A BIZARRE MELANCHOLY

When in the morning a new Sun always smiles at me
and flowing blackbirds from the branches, giving color concerts
When I have a thousand reasons to thank God for my existence
and hopes beginning to take consistent shape
When, even if my maturation occurred very slowly,
the child in me still casts kites; I lose a strange kind of happiness
because immediately after that consumes me, I am in a bizarre melancholy

e merli fluiscono dai rami, concertando colore
Quando ho mille motivi per ringraziare Dio per l’esistenza mia
e le speranze cominciano a prendere forma coerente
Quando, anche se la mia maturazione è avvenuta molto lentamente,
bambino in me getta ancora aquiloni, mi perdo una strana sorta di felicità
perché subito dopo che mi consuma, rimango in una bizzarra malinconia
